Steering Damper?
One of the many mods I'm planning on doing on my 06 600RR is a steering damper. Lots of people have told me that it's worth having. But what exactly does it do, and what sort of a difference will I notice? It's a pretty expensive device from what I found out today and I just want to be sure it's worth doing. Any feedback would be appriciated.....thanks!
when your front tire comes off the ground and you don't set it down straight, you get wobbles. the damper prevents the wobbles and/or lessens them.
do you need it on the 600rr? well...people who ride hardcore track and twists have them for insurance...just in case because they are pushing the bikes hard.
do you need one? well, if you're not track superstar you don't.
the most important thing is to set up the suspension properly, and then you wouldn't need a damper...until you get to that hardcore level. don't use the damper as a band aid to a jacked up suspension setting.
lots of posers have them though because they think it's cool.

Thanks for the reply. That's interesting. See I'm not a hardcore rider by any means and I don't ride on the track. I'm a new rider, and at this point I'm not planning on doing anything that would lift the front tire. It sounds like this might be a mod I can skip......or maybe not. The jury is still out in my mind as to if it's worth having done. Maybe others will post and I can get some other feedback. Thanks again!
Hi, I'm a new rider as well and a friend of mine told me a damper was one of the first mods I should get. But I'm not a hardcore rider either (or should I say yet) so I'm too sure if I really need one now. But Tahoe SC did mention something about "as long as you get your suspension set right" and I'm interested in how you do that, or how do you know if it's set right? What am I looking for when I'm trying to get it set right?

So back to the original question about sterring dampers..........does anyone else have any input for us?

Tahoe and all you guys !
In the new 2006 model you do NOT have any form to fit a different setting from factory.
It does not has any possibility to do it![>:]
