Sprocket kit threw off speedo
Hey all,
I just installed a vortex -1/+2 sprocket kit. I am very pleased with the performance but I ride along with my buddies and notice that I have a 4 or 5 mph gap at 35mph. I didn't test it past this but pretty sure that at even higher speeds 130+ it gets around 10mph off.
Any way of fixing this or tuning it out?

Anytime you change your gearing, it throws the speedo off. You'll also run in higher/lower RPM's at any given speed than the "Stock" setup. Thats why they make a "Speedo Healer". Just google that and you'll get a ton of hits. It lets you re-calibrate your speedo to make up for your changes in gearing. I bet your further off than you think you are... friend of mine just did -1 on the front on his F4I and about every 10 miles an hour he "looses" one. (AKA, at 10 he's doing 9, 20 he's doing 18, etc etc)
How's the new gearing feelin' for ya?

I wanted the sprocket kit for better acceleration and well, to get it up easier.
It does just that. I don't like to clutch it up so I just power it up, and the sprocket kit does help. I ride with a friend that has a R1 and he usually leaves me when we play around and now I can actually keep up a lot easier then before, I don't feel like weak sauce
But I think you are right about 1 mph per 10. I hit 158 the other day and it didn't feel like it...so I need to take a look at this healer.

My +1,-1 was -14.1% off according to the GPS, but corrected it up fine with the speedohealer. Oh, and you don't have to pull the fairings off to install unless you have some huge gorilla hands (I wear an XL glove).
