painting rims?

Default painting rims?
what are the steps to painting your rims a different color. Do i paint over ? do i need to use speacial paint? i just have the stock black rims on my f4i. and i want to get them red? any suggestions

I painted mine a gloss black. I polished the lips and then taped them off and scuffed them and then painted them followed by 3 coats of clear. No problems yet.

I would honestly suggest getting them powder coated. Its much more durable than paint and won't chip.
