Newbie Q? about lowering 600RR
Hello everyone, Just got my '03 600RR today and thinking of lowering it, since I'm a short guy 5'5". Did some of research on this site about members who installed lowering link on their bike. But i have not seen anyone mentioned if they lowered the front end too. If I lowered my bike 1 inch with a lowering link do I need to drop the front too? Is it really needed? All I need is an inch from the L-link plus an inch or so by shaving the seat which I'm going to research next. By the way the bike is mainly for street, home to work and work to home. NO racing, no tracks of any kind. Oh, could someone tell me if I got a good deal or not on this one. '03 CBR 600RR with 6600 miles on it, payed $4800.00 from a private seller with extended warranty untill 2009.
i just got mine today, 05 cbr600rr with 5700 miles for $5000. has some minor scratches on the right fairing and a cracked up fairing. i didnt care so i still bought.... i think 4800 is a little too much, but it all depends where you live at...
well im 5-5 as well and im kinda debating not to put my lowerin link on...ive been riding alot lately and when ever i come to a stop i just put my right foot down. ive read that if i lower it it'll affect the handling...not sure how much though...but if it'll make u more comfortable when u ride it think its worth it...and ive been told that u do have to lower the front also...

I'm 5'5 also and i got my bike 3monthes go..its a 2003 cbrr rr with 10k..i think i got owned!lol, blk, with two brothers....for 5200..but im in the midwest...private owner.....and i wanted to lower it ..but i heard that the handling you will lose a little and hp..but i dont know if that is ture.....so i decided to do one better ...got boots....and they help a lot!! i dont need to lower my bike..at all..im flat footed..i feel more in control..it really doesn't go with what im wearing...but i love the feel of having my feet down on the ground..lol..i didnt get like cowboy boots or anything..i wear sketchers boots..comfortable and about 40 bucks.....but that is the way i went.....but you can try it....and its easy for me to shift......not to thick on the toe of the boot where i would have problems....works fine...and the boots grip the road pretty well....try that peace...

Lowering will not cost you any Horsepower but it will adversely affect handling and ground clearance.
Remember what F4i's and 600rr's are made for.
Also something to keep in mind. You need to lower both ends of the bike the same amount. If you drop the front but don't drop the rear, the bike is going to be less stable. If you drop the rear and don't drop the front, it's going to turn like a pig.
Lowering should be your ABSOLUTE last option. I would look into a custom seat before I went the lowering route.
