Just got to any shop that welds, and they will be happy to cut the stock kickstand about half to one inch for you, and they will reweld the bottom piece back on, so that your bike is as good as before. They charged me $20 for this service. Was out of there in 10 minutes tops. I lowered my bike one inch in the back only, and it rides and corners like a dream. Not to mention that I can finally place both feet flat on the ground when stopping. That was also a deciding factor. At first the shop wanted to lower the front forks an inch too, but they realized that after I sit on the bike, and my weight is shifted forward over the bike, that the bike becomes perfectly level. So they didn't want to mess with it. For those that lowered their bike and they complain of scraping the pegs due to extreme lean angles, well you can always buy Vortex rear sets. This will raise the pegs 1 inch upwards and give you more room to lean more. I say YES to all those who want to lower their bikes. You won't regret it, this was the best mod I ever did!!!!

i know this thread is old but, i've recently lowered my 04 600rr. i think there's a slight delay on the response time when trying to turn but nothing too noticable. I'm 5-3 with 29" inseam so dropping it 1" was a GOOD THING, a lot more comfortable at the stops, corning on twisties still good, not all that bad. the only thing is the kickstand needs to be modified as well so that the bike doesn't stand too straight, other than that, i say go for the lowering.

Instead of lowering links has anyone used Race Techs lowering kits? It's more of a suspension setup that isn't supposed to hurt or hamper steering. http://www.racetech.com/html_files/L...USPENSION.html Personally I just shaved my seat to almost nothing and threw a memory foam topper on it, plus I added rubber washers to the seat bolts and pan to lessen the vibration. I am still curious about the Race Tech stuff though as I am ***** of my feet/tip toeing on some inclines. Oh and I raised the forks about 5mm up the trees, seems to help a bit as well. If you really want you can also have a shoe guy (cobbler) build up your soles. There is an article by a chick who now rides BMW's (notoriously high bikes) that had hers done, I don't recommend you go that high as it looks like she has platforms on, but even half an inch can make all the difference in the world for confidence.
