Lightbulb Feedback wanted: plug-in live data module for 05–06 600RR

Hey everyone,

I’m working on a small electronics mod for my 2006 CBR600RR and wanted to get some feedback from other 600RR owners.

The idea is a plug-in module that connects to the factory under-seat diagnostic connector and displays live bike data on a phone. I’m trying to keep it clean and reversible — no wire cutting, no splicing into the harness, and nothing that permanently changes the bike.

So far I’ve been testing live data like RPM, coolant temp, intake temp, TPS, MAP, battery voltage, and some basic bike status signals. I’m mainly focused on 2005–2006 CBR600RR fitment for now since that’s what I own.

For anyone who has added electronics, gear indicators, USB power, Power Commander modules, alarms, or other under-seat accessories to these bikes, I’d appreciate feedback on a few things:
  • Best place under the seat to mount a small module
  • How much clearance people usually have near the diagnostic plug
  • Whether a short extension harness would make install easier
  • What live data would actually be useful while riding
  • What would make an electronics mod feel trustworthy/reliable to you
  • Any common under-seat heat, vibration, or water concerns on these bikes
I’m still in the prototype/testing stage, so this is not meant as a classified or sales post. Just looking for real-world feedback from people who modify and ride these bikes.
