i'd have to be honest and say its not my cup of tea. BUT......im not the one riding the bike, you are. so if you like it and its functional for you and does what you need........then all for it, brother.

i use a backpack daily when commuting to/from work and i always get 1gal or 1/2 gal jugs of juice in mine to drink while im at work (trying to cut back on the soda addiction!). never really bothers me at all.

if it were something you were just buying that was pre-made i'd be even more against it, but it IS something creative and custom that you are doing to fit your daily needs. so, all in all.........i'd say get to it and let us know how it turns out. im anxious to see it!

good luck!

And the project continues...

Got the junked rear seat...

And promptly dismanteled it

The box returned from the painter, and they did an AWESOME job matching the pearl paint...

I still need to put some trim on the edge of the seat pan to clean up the installation a bit.. but its almost done.

If you think this is crazy...

Yes that is a Propane cilinder delivery bike... that's how they kick it down in Peru... Repsol Gas stations have their own fleet of these "beauties" down there...

Awesome job!!!! Talk about increased capacity....it'd be even cooler if you could get the brake light wired up with some kind of quick attach/detach system........

That's a damn good idea......especially with it being locked in so you don't have to worry about the crap just walking off like you would with a tail bag.

Ok, here's some more pictures...
one with the tank bag, and me in the seat for size comparrison.

Next up, Finishing the seat pan, and adding some graphics to the box to have it match the style of the bike (maybe a little metalic silver, and reflective pinstriping)

A working auxilirary brakelight is also in the works... To be Continued...

I hope you don't mind, but I made a link to this thread from my thread in the How-To section. My old thread was on the topic of making a soft tail bag, and I thought it would be good for people to see this idea too.

I don't mind at all... As a matter of fact,I really likeyour soft pack setup, You have more storage capacity than mine, and I'm cross linking your setup on this thread, so others can see the many possibilities...

Then it is settled. BTW, I like the way yours turned out. Keep us posted on the brake lights.
