Best deals on chrome wheels for 06 cbr600rr
who said anything about racers? chrome adds weight. when weight spins, it produces centrifugal force and gyroscopic motion. you add more weight, you add more force. ever handle a moving hard drive? Those plates only weigh a few ounces, but the amount of centrifugal force it produces is incredible! try it! power one up and try to bank it. now think about what you're doing to your motorcycle. there's a lot of weight on those stock wheels. it produces quite a bit of force when it's spinning (say at 50MPH, not outside the realm of possible even for a racer). think back to the hard drive. now add weight. it becomes much harder to make the s[inning mass do as you bid. possible, but much harder. straight line stability is also effected.
let me ask you something Bob, why is it that you think racers use an ultra light weight magnesium or Carbon Fiber wheels? i'll tell you even if you don't care. it makes the bike much MUCH more flickable, more manageable to go from left to right. why? Less rotating weight = less gyroscopic and centrifugal force. it makes changing directions more rapid. if you add weight to that rotating mass, it becomes less rapid.
Take your chromed friends out to your favorite twisty road in Wisconsin (God knows there's enough of them) or set up a simple technical course in an old parking lot and take note of how easy it is to go from left to right on your bike now and try a friend's on the same day if you can. make sure you do the same amount of laps too. if you say you can't tell the difference, i'm going to call you either an inconsistent rider or a flat out liar. Adding just a little weight to the wheel is a massive change to the amount of force it will produce.

WHO CARES... he wanted prices on chrome rims... HE WANTS CHROME RIMS... so i was telling him.. u want to debate physics then go to a class room.. i am not debating you about more weight makes it harder to turn.. but for the little bit it makes a difference it's not a big deal for what he is prob goin to do on it... didnt make a damn difference to me and i ride all the time in the turns...
This here is a classic case of clueless people taking advice from more clueless people.
If your friend up there who you gave 'advice' to died the next day because he couldn't heave the bike over to turn fast enough, is that going to sit well with you?
i already know the answer you're going to give me. "He's not going to die..." and those are some pretty famous last words.
good luck with your search, and god speed to the OP.

*sigh* The 600rr.net forum must be down....
To the original poster....do a google...you'll find plenty of outlets that'll chrome your wheels with good turnaround time. You can go with the wheel exchange on Ebay, but I'dfind a local shop that'll do the work. Got mine done for $500 a set(took two weeks) and it hasn't hindered my ability to drag knee on the street, but I don't canyon carve on a daily basis, so I can't help you there. I've seen guys canyon carve with chrome wheels and it didn't affect their riding ability a hair. It's all about the rider and chrome wheels don't make "that" much of a difference unless youre name is Hayden or Rossi and you're on a track. I don't think anyone on this board can even ride that seriously, so don't even sweat the small stuff. Do what you want to YOUR bike....the hell with what anyone else says.
One more thing....if you don't want chrome, there are paints on the market that give you a chrome look (ChromeFX by Alsa Corp) without the chrome "feel." Good luck.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. The only reason I wanted chrome wheels was for looks. I am not out stuntin to hard and I don't take curves at 120mph. I just like to get out and ride. Alot of my ridin is on highways and interstate anyway. And as for polishing wheels, that is a pain in the ***. I like just using soap and water to makechrome shine than having to scrub on 2 wheels for a hour to make polish wheels not even shine as good as chrome. But thanks for all the info. Stay safe everyone.
