Default Aluminum or Plastic?

So I wanted to cover the vent holes on my bike and did one side in aluminum gutter covering and one side with the plastic gutter covering. I like the plastic side better because it form fits nicer. I've had them both on for a few days and done some riding and had no problems with the plastic melting, but wondering if anyone else has tried the plastic and if it melted or not. I live in FL so it gets very hot and bike temps are always high when sitting in traffic. I've read directions and other threads where people use the aluminum and its not a problem to do, just liked the look of the plastic better.

Take a blow dryer and a piece of the material and hold it right up to it for a few minutes straight. If it melts from a blow dryer, it's going to melt eventually from the engine heat.

No, but if it starts to show signs of melting/distorting from a blow dryer at close proximity, then it wouldn't stand a chance long term.
