I'd really like to get a gear indicator.
Do a search for one that is installedinto your cluster, not sure if the 08 is too new for the one that is out there. I think someone on 600RR.net does it.

Listen to the other guys and save your money for a while before you start modding your bike (but don't wait to buy sliders). Since you are new at this, wait until the first set of tires go and then buy yourself a present for the bike, it'll take about that long beforeyou start to get to know your bike and what you'll really want/need and your chances of dumb crashes will be reduced.

Good luck and enjoy.

alright listen closely! follow these direction

1. GET INSURANCE FOR THE BIKE!!!!!!!!! bfor u look at the bike

2. GET FRAME SLIDERS!!!!!!! i dont car if u are rossi if someone knocked down the bike your *** out, they are gunna help alot trust me.

2. go out and buy u a after marketelimenator kit first, then take off the stock one

3. take off the reflectors "NOTE"! on the front fender u are gunna need to grind part of the
metal that holds the reflector cuz u need that piece to bolt down the front fender. the back ones come off easy.

4. take off all the dumbasss stickers " NOT THE HONDA ONES "! just the one that say warning, on the gas tanks theres two from wat i remember, look at your swing arm theres a few there to, use gas or goof off,to helptake off the rest of the resent when u pell them off.If u use a heat gun be care for not to put the heat gun close toyour plastic its gunna melt them.

5. Take off them turn singnals go get some flushmounts

now your set

I've noticed that tendancy as well.

Gear first. Frame sliders second. Track lessons third. Then anything else you desire. Be aware, tucking your license plate under the tail too far is illegal and the police will ticket.

my 2 cents. the bike I bought didn't have rear spools. Now that beautiful black swingarm has a scratch on it (when he dropped it). It's hard to see but I know it's there. If the dumbass had just put a set of $15 spools on there; no scratch on swingarm and they might have saved the passenger peg (your's is powdercoated on top of that.) and tail fairing. Spools also assist you in doingsome of your own maintenance when combined with a rear stand. So when you plunk cash down for sliders get the matching spools too.

btw those fairings and powder coated parts are really nice looking.
