Default Smoking engine

I have a stock '05 1000 with 18k miles. All maintenance is up to date.
I don't know how long it's been doing this, but the bike smokes enough for riders behind me to see it when I'm accelerating hard.I've been told it smells likes fuel burning, not oil. Does this sound like ajob for a power commender? It seems to run fine,no oily buildup is around the exhaust, and the oil level never changes.

you should let a buddy ride it and you follow so you can see what exactly people are talking about.

Your fuel mixture might be a little rich.

Tell your mate to check the colour

white smoke = condesation
blue smoke = oil burning
black smoke = unburnt fuel

That's too bad because air filters are a lot cheaper than power commanders.
An injecter going bad would be more likly than the ecu map changing. Right guys? I'm asking because Idon't know WTF is going on in there.
Try spitting on your finger & wiping the pipes before start up tosee if one is colder than the rest. It's damn thight in there I know. Pitty you don't have one of those temperature reading lazer gizmos like the cheating machanics do.
If you do find a cold one change the plug & hope for the best. Because the next stepyou shouldtake is to take it in.

Hold up on the commander.

It's interesting you said to change the plugs because the problem wasn't noticed prior to having the valves checked, theair filtersandthe plugsreplaced at 16k miles.
I've always wanted a thermometer and this gives me a great excuse to get one. Afterwards, I'll check the plugs.
And fyi,I was told by a speed shop in town that they'veknown others with similar problems and it turned out to be the oil level was too high. They said to drop the level to the middle of the sight glass; mine isat the very top.
More to follow...
Thanks!

Start over. Readwhat you wrote from the start & ask the question you want answered . Beas explicite as you can & try to be morepolite next time. Just cause you ride won't make it.
The. It wasn't noticed till the valves were checked. Is new to me & itchanges things. You jumping to theconclusion that i suggested to change all four plugs.Would belike me saying the guy that checked your valvesfaged your bike. Did you personaly look at the air filter? 18k?
