How to remore the PAIR valve??
get ready for a fun time
you have to take the tank cover off
fairings off
tank up
airbox off
unbolt the intake from the radiator
it helps to unhook the radiator and push it forward as well
unscrew the intake from the back half and push it forward
do you have a service manual
helps tremendously
i know there is a download link on 1000rr.net
basically there is about 10-12 phillips head screws holding the airbox in there
once you find them all
i did a more detailed write up here a few weeks ago as well

that is the site that i originally used but it doesnt got into loosening the air duct
and i dont know about the 04/05 but on my 06 if you didnt move the radiator and push the airduct forward you were not going to get to the pairs
just be careful
if you are using the DK block off plates or something similiar dont break the screws holding the pairs on
they are very mild steel
when you get inside, take the screws out that hold the reeds in place
totally remove the flame arrestors and then put the top metal pieces with the rubber edges minus the reeds back in
it just helps with sealing
if i had it to do all over again i would have just capped off the pairs without taking them off
