Wait a few weeks for Power Comander to release its ignition module for the '08 CBR 1K. This will restore the power above 10k. Yes the US model is down 6 HP over 10300. I've spoken to Erion Honda and Jeff Tigert, Honda in Torrance and they both confirmed this. For whatever reason Honda is limiting the power over 10k.

RE: getting more hp on 08 1000
Hi guys, new here. Great forum and site!! Just wanted to share some more info. This is the fully kitted PBM World Superbike ridden by Gregorio Lavilla. It's the fastest Blade out there in SBK right now (mph).
The crank problems showed up during testing. Out of 8 Blades that were being tested by different teams, every single one had cracks, some actually broke the cranks. At that time Honda issued a memo to the teams telling them to lower the rpm limit from 15,000 to 14,000. Honda said they would provide upgraded parts asap. About a month went by and when I asked again about the situation, Honda had not provided new parts, but instead lowered the service interval from 3000km to 1500km. These are all production parts. Transmissions were next. Seems the heat treatment was not done properly and problems started to arise. So Honda sent another memo out telling the teams to measure and check transmissions after each race. That was not a big deal with the 04-07 bike since it had a cassette transmission, but the new one is inside the cases. You can only imagine how happy the teams were. Forgot to mention problems with the fuel pumps but that's minimal. The other main thing that was mentioned by Ed is the HRC SBK spec ECU. One of the teams had to try 6 before they got one to spark. At Assen, on top of 3 motors breaking down, any of the teams that were using HRC electronics had all kinds of problems. From no sparking to not being able to get out of pit lane limiter mode, to traction control. Seems when the speed sensor goes it corrupts the ECU, so you have to replace both. The teams with stand alone systems (marelli, motec) had no problems at all. One of the teams has tried 23 variants of the HRC electronics and T/C and still can't get it to work.
Just wanted to share this so no one is caught off guard. It's a new model so of course you will have problems, just would hate for someone to pay a lot of money for HRC ECUs (which have no warranty) and end up shafted. I already have cams, pistons, valves, etc on the way but will sit on them until I hear whether Honda will take care of the main problems or not. As of right now my contacts in Japan cannot even get the ECUs since HRC has not released them to the public
