I removed the flapper and vacuum can and assorted crap. Unless you have a manual, lots of room and above average mechanical skills I'd suggest leaving it in. This is the first time 'under the hood' and I'm impressed with all the doo-dads and **** in there. I'll let ya know after a couple hundred miles how it runs with the physical stuff gone.

RE: Air Intake Flapper Mod
I had the mid fairings off last night to install my Greggs Customs signals, so I took the opportunity to remove all the associated crap with the flapper. Removed the valve/solenoid assembly on the left side of the bike and plugged the vac line to the motor. Even if it doesn't make much difference, it gets rid of some of the clutter on the bike. I did notice a vacuum line running from the motor (can't really see where) that had the end just stuck into the hollow opening on the left side frame spar. What is this and is it supposed to be there? BTW, the Greggs Custom signals look great. I think I may cut them off though to install resistors on them. Not sure I like the hyper-fast blinking, sort of reminds me of all the dumb tricked out Honda Civics I see all the time.
