Default 2006 mods

Hey guys,

Im J. This is my intro post if you're interested: https://cbrforum.com/m_180391/tm.htm

I've been a little behind whats going on with sport bikes since I started college over 3 years ago. I have subscriptions to a few magazines but I just dont have time to read them and now that I have a new CBR (my first bike without carbs) I really dont know what I can do with it as far as modification.

Im willing to spend $2000-$3000 (all parts, I can do the work myself) and what I want is an increase over the entire powerband (not just max power) without losing reliability and without being too loud for long highway rides (either a nice exhaust with a silencer or one that can be easily switched out with stock and not create problems will work).

What parts would you guys recommend and what kind of gains do you think I could get?... and dont think you have to spend the whole $3000.

Thanks,
J

full exhaust, power commander, 520 chain kit, filter. After that i'd worry more about suspension than anything. What good is power if you can't get it to the ground. I think this is alittle over a grand. The sad thing is you could probably get magnesium wheels and 520 kit and be faster than people doing all the exhaust and computer tuning but thats closer to the $3000 mark.

Im guessing the magnesium wheels will be significantly lighter than stock? I like that idea a lot. I know how much lightweight wheels can help a car's acceleration but I hadnt even thought of that with a bike

thanks!

The best mod that ever did was the intake, and I'm not taking about filters.

1. Power Commander 3
2. Filters (personal choice as alot of different opinnions here)
3. Full Exhaust System (I got New 06' redesigned Micron)
4. Flapper Mod
5. Custom Mapping
6.Ride,Ride, Ride

= 160rwhp..plus....

I would only upgrade your suspension if you have tried to setup the original and can't get it to do what you need. The 2006 has better suspension than the 04/05. It has alot of adjustment so play with what u got and if it still not doing what u need than upgrade!
