2001 F4i with several ssilly problems!
See, here's the problem with the MAP... the EFI system is a speed/ density system, so it needs the MAP to meter the fuel. Without that, it's like a mass air flow system without the MAF connected; the ECU has no idea how much air the engine is getting.
If the code is intermittent, it's quite possibly a wiring problem, so I'd start checking continuity of the wires while you wiggle them. Also, test the MAF sensor to see if it's good.

could this be why when my speedo stopped working my Fi light comes on?
The factory service manual has specs and how too's to diagnose the FI system including the TPS. I suggest you buy or download one. It could be a wide variety of things but my money is on TPS, FPR, or valves needing adjusted. My brother had my '01 before me and replaced everything to do with the EFI system and i mean everything(tps, throttlebodies, ecm, all sensors) and the thing would start and run unless you held the throttle open. Turned out the valve shims were way tight on the cam lobes and the valves werent fully closing. Thus lower compression. A compression check will help diagnose that but at 18k miles its time for a check if you dont know if its been done. oh and when they get that tight you have to adjust them at least twice to get them right as you can't take a proper measurement when there is 0 or less clearance between the cam and shims.
My symptoms only occur once the bike is warmed up (half hour of riding). When i'm in first letting out the clutch the bike bogs down as if i'm not giving it enough gas and I also have to use WOT to start it once warm. Tried seafoam and it helped a little but then went back to normal... maybe i'll try checking the battery connections next.

Hey All,
Purple, your speedo is probably just a loose connection, or just a bad speed sensor.
Jonld, I have the FSM, thus I know all the tolerances of the sensors, and where everything is. As for what could be wrong, I have replaced the FPR, the TPS is my next bet, I'm just broke at the moment. As for valves, I can't imagine it's that when I unplug the sensors, though now I can plug it back in and it still idles, as long as I don't give it any throttle. I have no Idea any more, too much is wrong. I don't think it's valves, but now that I think about it, it could be.....ugh......
Newb13, good luck bud, I am about ready to give up on this bike. I want to go to carburation as this electronic fuel injection is bull. I'm just crabby, and am sure I will love it if I ever get it going.
Best,
Antonio

holy crap Papa....it almost sounds like you are shooting in the dark to find this problem and want to start thowing parts at it....bad idea!
My suggestion would be to take one in the gut and have a dealer look at it.
The amount of $ on parts that you seem to want to throw at it, you could have spent on someone diagnosing the problem for you.
Well, take it for what its worth,,,just my .02.
It's what I would do

Hey Junkie,
I know, I have already thrown 300 bucks at it, but I didn't think it was too bad since I only spent 1300.00 on the bike. I'm not ready to throw any more parts at it quite yet, I have been holding off. Just trying to really diagnose the problem. I just want to be able to say I did it rather than someone else! I have learned a TON about this bike thus far, I am sure there is more. Besides, I get to ride this beautiful Triumph until then! Thanks for your thoughts junkie!

Glad to see you finally got her all fixed up. I wouldnt have been able to wait that long. I would have tried to fix it myself and then went to the dealer if I couldnt pull it off in a reasonable amount of time. Im like that though, I just want to ride.
