my 93 hurricane vs my 02 FZ1
Nice comparison! there's something about these new bikes that doesn't catch my eye... I'm always looking at older bikes rather than the latest 2009 model. Who knows, and I'm only 27
Anyone mentioned old kawas... here's a pic of both of my girls:

This is the most updated pic, currently restoring the original paint (side covers don't match there):

A mate of mine had the 550, must of been about the same age as yours Daniel, I used it for a while and what a dream to ride, you just had to think about where you wanted to go........
Alright it was no muscle bike but for a 550 it did the biz! And when the 600R came out it could give them a run for their money too. There is something about the 80's and early 90's bikes the modern bike haven't got, yes they may be faster and handle better but they still haven't got "IT" (IMO)

Here is my report on my current two babes, one is "me precious" CBR, the other one is a BMW R1100RT, I had it a couple of years ago because of the misus starting to tag along on my trips, unfortunately her butt was not meant for the 1KF back seat, so I listened to my old gran father saying,...."BMW's are the greatest for taking your half orange with you on long trips...ask your granny"..he was so right.
So mano a mano, there is no way we can compare both rides..BMW is a tank, but loaded with the whole infantry, CBR is also a tank, but fitted with rockets insted, my wife still loves going out in the CBR for short trips and she enjoys speed more than in the BMW couch.
BMW accelerates from 0 to 100 KM in what....three days probably, but the features it's got on board are nice to have plus the panniers which can hold a lot....(think in a women purse..)
So, any way I use the old BM'er for long trips only and my CBR for everything else (thanks God is most of the time).
Cheers and V's,
Luis

Nice comparison...
IMO , another thing that sort of gets lost with the full on road tourers , is the feel.... I think there is something to be said for suffering in a minor fashion , on a great looking and the racy feeling CBR 1000 F's..
I cant get enough of mine..
I have traveled some extremely long trips on way worse rides than a CBR 1000F.. she will do me even if the misses suffers a bit... LOL
Went out for 4 hours today ... just got back ... got at least 10 big thumps in the ribs from Kerri , on 5 - 6 different occasions...
Great day , great ride , great bike
