im thinking the CIAs look sturdier and they come in red

I don't have experience with them but how about Harbor Freight LINK ?

In the back of my Cycle magazine is a coupon for that stand for $25.99.

Last weekend my friend and I picked up stands for our DR's at $19.99 ea. using coupon from magazine. LINK Maybe not the best quality but big bang for $$$$.

this is the kind of thing you shouldn't spend tons of money on. i got a rear stand off ebay for $30, and it's never let me down, works flawlessly.

and you're going to scratch the hell out of it, so why spend money on it. (every time the stand is on the ground, that powder coat is getting scratched).


think about how much stuff you could buy for your bike if you bought cheaper ones instead.

My main use stands are Pit Bull Motorcycle Stands-Motorcycle Accessories. They are extremely strong & reliable. Not cheap but never have to worry about them failing either.

I also have a set of KyleRacing stands that are similar to the MotoGP stands you're considering. They have been reliable. However, they are not the same gauge tubing or have the heavy welds as the PitBulls & do have some flex.

For wheel chocks, I mainly use Baxley Baxley Trailer Sport Chock. Just roll the front wheel into the chock & the bike stands up straight & secure. Also, I was curious about the Harbor Freight front wheel chock http://www.harborfreight.com/motorcy...ock-97841.html & picked up one when they were on sale for $39.99. The construction is dif than the Baxley but the principle is the same. I found the steel construction to be robust & solid. I've used the HF chock many times & find it reliable but a little more finicky about getting the front wheel into the chock. I did a write-up the HF front wheel chock on the forum some time ago. Its still going strong. Both the Baxley & the HF front wheel chocks are great in the back of a pickup, on a trailer, & at the track.

I plan on getting a set of stands to keep the bike on this winter. As far as the front stand goes is there any difference between the one that lifts it by the triple tree and the one that lifts it by the fork? I dont really plan on taking my forks out or doing anything like that that would require one that lifts it by the triple tree so either one would suit my needs but is there a general consensus about one being better than the other? Or should i not really care about that and just get whatever?

 

^ Having both types, I can say that a lower triple lift type stand is def more secure/stable IMO.
