Default Rod and Crankshaft bearings

I am rebuilding a 900rr engine that had a knock.

When i got to ronayers.com to order the bearings, each bearing has a different part number, so Cyc 1 has one number and cyc 2 has a different number.

are they all the same?

I was going to rebuild a 97 motor once with a bad knock. When we opened it up, the #3 crank bearing was history. I was going tohave the crank turned so had it magnafluxed. The crank had a crack that you cuoldn't see so it was history also. A crankshaft can run as high as $1000 so I just shopped aruond and bought an entire engine. If I remember right the manual does call out different bearings for each cylinder. Good luck.

Another place I checked was APE.com. They do alot of crankshaft and rod work. I think thats their web site. Anyway they sometimes (but not always) have used cranks that they have refurbished. Hope it in better shape than mine was.

the rod and main bearings don't have different #s for each cylinder. the different numbers are for different thicknesses.the bearings are color coded. there are numbers on the crank and numbers on the rods and the block.on the left side behind the rotor

block should look like this 1 2 1 3 1

crank like this 22331
1121

each rod will also be numbered.a good shop manual will show you how to tell which bearings you need.

How'd it turn out???

I'm doing this in the next week or so, and I need a refresher- lol!
I guess it's not saying much that I r&r'd the engine in the first place about 18,000 to 20,000 miles ago due to a crash taking out the cases.
Now I am HOPING I caught this in time to not be too bad- I have heard that if caught early enough, the crank could be ok- Anyone else heard of that?
I just drained the oil, and it had the look of a pearl paint- but thats normal with wet clutches to a point if I remember- (not metallic paint, but pearl=super fine almost shimmer) and as far as "chunks" or slivers, I only saw two about the size of black pepper so I hope I'm in good shape.

Lost oil press, but not power the last time I rode it, and not a terrible amount of noise, but a rod knock.

funny- the crank looks ok, but the cases are shot.

Not a rod either- #2,3,&4 mains spun…..
