Okay guys a follow up on the cooling system drama I had .
On inspection of the radiator cap I noticed that the over flow hole was completely blocked not allowing the cap to release pressure from the system to the over flow bottle .
Yes I know , a complete lack of maintenance on my part . I just thought I'd mention it here so a few of you could check your own bikes so this doesn't happen to you .

Working on a design for some custom 2.5" rise touring clipons, similar to Helibars. Not interested in spending $319 on theirs. Picked up some steel DOM tubing and some hardware to weld up. Already cut the tube for the clamps. Need to weld on the pinch bolt tube/nut and slice them before moving on to mocking up the risers and bars. Will share pics as project progresses. Will have more spare time this weekend.
hi Brian . where did you reach with the Helibar mods to raise your handlebars? Pics would be highly appreciated!!

I'm about to embark on a complete suspension overhaul (thanks to a week off work).
The bike is up on stands ready for tear down, a pair of fork tubes are baking in the oven after a day of preparation and painting. Tomorrow morning I take them and the rear shock over to a local specialist for a breath of new life.
73 K miles on the old girl has led to the point where bumps have become amplified rather than attenuated and controlled (Think Carousel ride). The rest of the bike is going like young blood.
Any of you guys fitted Race tech gold top emulators in the front end? I'm interested to know if they're either relevant or worth the money.
I can't wait to ride on new springs, oil and gas.
Then there's the other heap of jobs to do this week. Plastic welding, cam chain, swing arm bearings, new HID kit, blah blah blah.... which would all be very well if were not for the fact that I'm also having to be right hand for my missus after she broke her arm two weeks ago. Ho hum...
You all good?

H

40K miles ago.
It's still quiet..... I'm just conscious of not pushing it beyond reasonable limits.
Got the forks over to the rebuilder today. The rear shock can't be rebuilt so I'm now looking for a replacement for reasonable money, around the £300.00 mark is about my limit right now.
Anyone got any good tips, what's hot on the market at the moment?
I sprayed up the fork tubes in white. Always fancied seeing what it would look like. Guess I'm about to find out...

Synced carbs. Did it the old fashioned way, with a micrometer in the butterfly valve gap. Runs better than when i bought it 10K miles ago. Can someone explain why people keep telling me you need a vacuum measurement to sync carbs?

Yo Henry..
Your Mrs could help fish out the cam chain when it drops down the gap....
Good luck with the over haul, hope you get it back before the short summer expires.
Mike.

Dropped my bits off to powder coat today. Seat in to the trimmers tomorrow. Just put it in a bag which I can wear as a back pack on the Street Triple R (the seat is bloody huge!!). Gotta get out for a blast as they're threatening to give us some sun this week!!

Over the course of the week, I installed new Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT's, and removed front calipers and cleaned / lubed guide pins (no more sticking calipers). This weekend, balance crankshaft balancer assy, pull plugs and inspect / clean / replace, and synch the carbs.
