Default Horrendous Fuel Filter Bodge

Hi Folks

Went to take my f-j out for a ride on Sunday to be met with petrol flooding all over the drive when trying to fire her up, found this awful bodge where the fuel was leaking out. No idea how I didn't spot it earlier, all for the sake of an £11.50 filter, it must have taken whoever did it ages to bodge the incorrect filter on, obviously using rubber piping that perished extremely quickly causing the leak, should have called her Fireball XL5 rather than Pacman lol!!

My own fault I suppose, I should have found it sooner. Fitted the correct filter in piccie #4.

Cheers, Steve

Thumbs up fireball

Glad you spotted it BEFORE you fireballed

some people! Like you say it must of taken longer to bodge than fit the correct one.

Steve..........

Glad you found it and fixed it before you became a Flamin' Zodiac

Love it when you find those 'fixes' by a PO - sometime I shake my head in wonder that a bike works at all with some that I've found.

Well done!

Cheers, SB

It sounds like bad news but the good news is that the problem was solved before it became bad news. lol

That sounded really messed up. lol

What I am trying to say is its better to find problems before they find you.

OK, one more try at it........It's better to find a problem before you get stuck on some back road in the middle of nowhere with no tools or supplies to fix it.

Simply put....your bad news is good news. lol

Does anyone have a fuel filter on their Mark 2 or 3 machines ? I know they don't come with them but I think there may be some guys here that have installed them ? If so does anyone have a Fleabay reference where I can get one. I like to eliminate all possible problems on these old girls where I can. Preventative maintenance I suppose. Cheers.
