Default hard cornering

Hi all, hopefully someone can help a girl out here. I just purchased a 2002 cbr600f4i with 13k miles on it. The bike was laid down at a slow speed, damage to the right fairing (road rash). The bike seems really tight to turn at low speeds and when riding at higher speeds seems to fight me in corners. The direction of the corner doesnt seem to matter, I lean it and it feels like the bike is trying to stand itself back up. Any suggestions?

1st off welcome to the board, and congrats on your purchase

Some Q's...Is this your first bike? Does the bike go straight when you let go of the bars?

The only thing i could think of is that either you just arent use to the ergos of the f4i, or maybe something is off. I crashed a few months ago and it made the bike harder to turn right. I took it to a dealer and they said to loosen the fork tube bolts and fiddle with the bars to make the bike straight again, then tighten them back up, but i dunno about being hard both ways...

I know that the higher the speed, the harder it is going to be to lean the bike...

Maybe someone else can think of something else to add

thanks for your reply, I rode a cbr 600rr for about a year and loved it, I have ridden a cbr1000rr and loved it, just couldnt find an rr in my price range. Didn't think there should be that much difference between the rr and the f4i in handling. The bike does go straight when I let go of the bars. the tech at the honda dealership feels it may be the bearings in the triple yolk? because the bike was left outside. And when I say higher speeds, I ment 50 to 60mph, not really high speeds. I had no problems on the other bikes I have ridden.

My F4i feels easier to turn than my buddies 05 1000RR. When I say easier, it is the force needed to move the handlebars and point the tire in a different direction. If you feel it is harder to turn yours, then I would assume something needs attention on your bike and the bearings sound reasonable. Keep us posted.

Check to see if you have a wider tire on the back. If it's a 190 thats probably the difference. Most people have a 180 on the RR's. That would make a huge difference.

i had a 2000 f4 and never realized how difficult it was to corner until i got the gsxr. the f4 handles better than some bikes, but deffinately not the best. when you are cornering are you countersteering? do you lean off ur seat at all? it helps a lot if you have the ***** of ur feet on the pegs, lean off a little and pull ur opposite knee into the tank.
