Need Help with Dented Gas Tank
Hey guys,
Im riding a 2003 Honda CBR F4i and was workin on the fuel pump and had the gas tank off. Needless to say, it fell and now
I have a dent in the tank. Do I get it fixed? Try and buy a new tank?
Do traditional body shops work on bikes? Where would I even begin to look for a 23. year old part?
Im tryin to. upload a pic but how is it possible to get a pic resolution to under 65kb? lol
Thanks for your help
Rich

Hello,
Most body shops can work on tanks. Whether they will or not varies with each shop. Even if they won't take it on, they usually have the name of someone who will do the job. That brings you to the next decision, will you have the tank repainted afterwards? Sometimes, depending on the severity of the dent and repair needed, a new coat of paint is required.
When I purchased my bike 2nd hand, the only flaw it had was a significant dent in the tank. I opted to find one on eBay and have it painted to match the color scheme of my bike. At that time I was able to purchase OEM decals so it was an exact match of the orignal without have to do the body work.

Thanks for that advice. That was a huge help. I have a local Honda dealership I’m gonna pop in there before I start scouring the internet and eBay….i was hoping it wouldn’t be this much work but looks like I have no choice. It’s a 2003 with only 7000 miles so I’m gonna try and keep it…..
any further suggestions would be appreciated if you come across any!
Thanks again!!
