This is the perfect opportunity to increase your riding skills and ride faster than you ever have before! An $80 special for 1st time riders w/ the "new riders school" is a good deal.
Willow Springs & Streets of Willow are great tracks. WS staff are good folks. Entry fee to the track is $10. You can "camp" at the track for a nominal fee. There's a canteen, where they have sandwiches & hot food. There's restroom & shower facilities as well. March is a good time to go to WS b/c its not hot yet. It gets damn hot there in the summer! I go thru an entire cooler of gatorade/water on a summer day there. I'm talking a 20 ouncer every hr or more! There are some small mom-n-pop motels in Rosamond (same exit) to stay, or you can drive a little farther down the 14 to Lancaster - lots there...motels, retaurants, a CycleGear, etc.
One recommendation for you newbs if you're going to WS. Be sure to get yourself an EZup to sit under btwn sessions...or you'll regret it! The sun can be brutal out there. Be sure to have something to anchor your ezup as well, b/c the wind out there can be especially rough in the afternoons.
Most of all, channel your anxiety into concentrating on your technique...& HAVE FUN!
