Close Call
I usually followa slower rider that I'm not familiar with a turn or two before passing to gauge theirlines unless there's a big window to make the pass. A couple weeks ago I broke my rule after getting a little frustrated with some traffic jamming. A rider looked to be moving mid track for a right handerso I went for an outside pass but then the rider decided to drift back wide again to the outside edge of the track leaving me no room. So for your entertainment here's a video, I slowed it down half speed but it all happened in a couple seconds.

It happened so fast Ijust felt instinct kick into try and keepit upright, fortunately the infield wasn't too rutted and I had enough sense to not touch the front brake. I don't think the rider (she)even saw me, perhaps at themoment I buzzed by. Probably the other rider on the inside line spooked her to move wide...even though they had a pretty good space between them.
Nah, didn't mean it as a jab at all, if it was unconscious chauvinism I'll ask for your forgiveness! There aren't that many female track riders but I've been on the track with a few who can leave me in the dust.
