Default Close Call

I usually followa slower rider that I'm not familiar with a turn or two before passing to gauge theirlines unless there's a big window to make the pass. A couple weeks ago I broke my rule after getting a little frustrated with some traffic jamming. A rider looked to be moving mid track for a right handerso I went for an outside pass but then the rider decided to drift back wide again to the outside edge of the track leaving me no room. So for your entertainment here's a video, I slowed it down half speed but it all happened in a couple seconds.

Nice work staying up. How did it feel going that fast off road? Did the other guy move over to give you room once he noticed that you were there?

It happened so fast Ijust felt instinct kick into try and keepit upright, fortunately the infield wasn't too rutted and I had enough sense to not touch the front brake. I don't think the rider (she)even saw me, perhaps at themoment I buzzed by. Probably the other rider on the inside line spooked her to move wide...even though they had a pretty good space between them.

I've been in the same boat. Its a rough ride off the track at high speeds I'll attest for that. Nice job avoiding, good job not going down.

Good job on keeping the rubber side down. I do have to ask, though I may regret this... Is the "(she)" a jab?

Nah, didn't mean it as a jab at all, if it was unconscious chauvinism I'll ask for your forgiveness! There aren't that many female track riders but I've been on the track with a few who can leave me in the dust.

I didn't think it was.

BTW: Which track was that? Looks like Bakesfield desert. Buttonwillow perhaps?

ApexClipper,

Question for you...

Being in CA, have you or anyone you know ever taken off the CA emission crude for the race/track bikes?

The fires are south of right?
