hey... im sure you all get this stuff all the time....

i just got my 99' 900rr last week and i can wheelie first pretty easy..... second not so much yet....


anyways i wanna mess wit the sprockets a bit to make wheelies a little easier.... but still be able to fly down the highway with the boys..... (at least wanna do 140's)


Should i just go up a few teeth on the back.... like 4 or so????

or should i do like the typical -1 front +2 rear..... i just cant decide whats best.....


I dont know what this bike works best with....

I went up 5 in back on my f4i in back cause its easier on the bike and i love the look of a pizza tray and i top out in the 140s and the 1 down 2 up is like 4 and a half so anywhere around there you should be able to rock more then 2nd

 

If you current stuff is in good condition i would honestly just go -1 in the front and see how ya like it. Good part is it will only cost ya about $25 and takes just a few min to install. If you need new chain and sprockets anyhow then you might try a 520 kit -1 +2

 

yeah thats kinda what i was thinking....

the chain and sprockets that are on there seem in real good condition with no problems and the chains tensioned good.... so i might just try that down one and see what happens....


yeah if i change the chain and sprockets i will deff rock 520 with at least a -1 +2 sprockets.....



i just wanna be able to do decently slow 1st gear wheelies and still be able to rock the highway....

 

600cc's? i would just do -1/0, my kawi 636 has it and it's ****.

 

hahahah but yeah.... im thinkin doing just the one down up front for now.... cheap and prolly will help a bit....

 

well the sprocket will help but almost all sportbikes can be wheelied from 1-4th without mods. it's just the operator. cool thing is, you can just do -1/0 and if you ever want more torque, just throw on a bigger rear sprocket.

 

I think you'd have some troublepullin up 3rd or 4th on an f4i.

I put the -1 +2 up on my bike and it tops out around 135-140mph. The 1st,2nd and 3rd gear wheelies are very easy now though, plenty of power.

 

IMO, if your new to the bike and/or new to riding wheelies. I would keep the sprockets stock for the moment. Atleast until you get use to the power at the right RPM's. Get use to how fast the bike reacts and get use to what it takes to control it. If you can control it fairly good on stock sprockets, then you shouldnt have a problem moving up.....Most people think going up on sprockets will make them wheelie easier. This is very true.......But what they dont realise is it creates more bottom end torque, so the bike can get away from you ALOT easier......All in all, bigger sprockets are usless unless you know how to ride on your stock sprockets......I ride my 954 -1 +2 and my ole ladies F4i on stock.......954 is a killer, but those F4i's are alot of fun with that much shorter BP, hehe....=-)

No my ole lady doesnt ride wheelies (i swear), haha
