i live in Kansas so not alot of steep hills but thanks for the input, I have tried closed to completely open throttle at 7k and it doesnt feel like its coming up.
Your bike should stand straight up if you take it to 8 grand in first and pin the throttle. Pure Power Wheelie.

thing I like about clutch wheelies is your more in control of your speed, when you use just throttle you really have to crack it which alot of people (especially if your used to trying to be smooth) have trouble getting used to, as somebody pointed out dont look down at the gauges, look ahead, and keep that rear brake covered, shift weight back, I have a buddy who stands up on the pegs and it really comes up easy

That video is great, but what if your bike doesn't have enough power to do a roll on wheelie?

when i started to learn to do wheelies i started in 2nd gear, you have more control and it's not as torquey... lol, but really try bouncing it up... find out where your sweet spot is and it starts to have it's power band, then try bouncing on the pegs and pulling the handle bars up as you WOT on the powerband... thats how i did my first wheelie ... i kept trying in 1st but the tq was a bit much so i ended up going to 2nd (i am riding a 900 though) so just play with it and in time you will get it
