how stupid was I?
Naah. Lightning doesn't care about tires and such. It tears through the air which is a great insulator. If you get in the way..... you'll get hit. Lightning will try to take the path of least resistance, though, once it gets it to you.... so whatever that is, it will find it. Cars help because the metal frame routes the power to the ground.
I saw a boom truck run into a power line once. Crazy chit. It blew out all the tires and then lit the wheels on fire. lol..
edit: I also watched a high power line go down in my parents front yard. I thought aliens were coming for me. hehe.. Nothing but bright blue light in every window and a hum that shook the whole house. I went outside later and it had turned part of the driveway into glass.
Pretty cool, really.

Ah! so you're saying lightening's not good to ride in then. Bugger!
Thanks for the warning D.
Do you think wrapping yourself in tin foil may give some protection when the sky starts flashing?

Guys (and gals), you don't want to be hit by a lightning bolt packed with millions of volts of electricity when you're riding. And if you're riding in a lightning storm you are a moving lightning rod, unless you are somehow shorter than the road surface you are riding on.
There are many stories of motorcyclists killed by lightning when riding if you do a quick Google search if anyone wants some examples of this. Wet roads and rain are one thing; lightning is another matter.

I highly recommend tin foil hats and suits.
For the mind control/thought harvesting, yes. You could cover the inside of the helmet, too, for double protection.
But it won't do much for lightning. You need the whole suit for that.
