im new to motorcycles and dont like the look of mirrors is it legal to take the mirrors of?

please keep your mirrors,

wait to order new ones or pick some up at a local shop.

in most states you are legally required to have at least one.

I agree with this, but if you must remove the mirrors, how about trying bar end mirrors. and just replace the stock mirrors for inspection.

Don't know Where you are so can't say. In OK, state regulation requires both mirrors, all factory-equipped turn signals and brake lights (or suitable replacements).
