Wearing a full suit doesn't make the assumption of skill valid. In fact the suit and helmet also looked brand new, which would make me assume him to be a complete bike noob. Salesman prolly sold everything to him that day.

The mold breaking stuff and needing to scrub it off is now more urban myth and noob excuse for ****ing up. They don't use that stuff any more on new tires. And needing to ride 100 miles to break in new tires is ridiculous, as any track rider will attest. What can throw an experience rider about new tires is the sudden change in tire profile and traction the new tires give. It took me about 10 minutes of "sedate" riding on my new rear before I finally said "screw this" and went back to 7k-9k gear changes.

Oh and to guess:
Realizing he was going too fast and would catch the lead car the hard way, he grabbed a handful of front brake

my guess: look how shinny the tires are, except in the center, where the dirt got picked up from the sidewalk. there is more there than just a new set of tires. tire dressing maybe? it did just come off the show room. detailed all out, tires included.

No I mean front brake. Looked and sounded like he grabbed the front brake without rolling off the throttle. Rear end kicked out of alignment from the front and tossed him on the high side. Or there was no brake involved and he didn't know what the term "cold tires" meant. Definitely can hear the engine still revving up as things go wrong.

If he was a brand new rider, I can almost guarantee the salesman barely mentioned the rear brake during his Riding 101.
Guy: "What's this lever for?"
Salesman: "It's a footrest so you can strike a cool pose when sitting in front of the Starbucks"
