Exclamation cbr streetfighter conversion

hi guys,

pretty new to this site so ill intro myself, names Adam and a few weeks agomy uncle came off his 600f at 100mph into a field, no serious damage justplastics and pride, now he wants me to turn his baby into a streetfighter and I’mrunning into 1 problem,

the bike is an import to the uk, and therefore the speed i registered inkmh, now id like to simply swap this out for mph but its an electronicallycontrolled unit as you probably know, will simply changing the unit work and isthere any aftermarket displays that would suit the street fighter look, i.e.attachable to the forks not the frame.

also i know many of the comments to follow will include "just sell itand get a new bike"..... "not worth the repair".. Etc..... I’vealso said this and the answer that follows is simply... "I’d rather sellmy kids"....

i hope you guys can help me on this as it has me a little stuck

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum! First off would be easier to help if you would specify what bike are we talking about, 600f is usually referring to the mk1 "Hurricane" but from the gauge being electronic I`d assume we`re talking about something newer, F4, F4i? If you don`t know then tell us what year model it is.

There`s a lot of aftermarket gauges out there, I think Koso is one of the biggest manufacturers and the Koso RX-2 one of the most selling unit from them, it`s a matter of preference and what kind of style are you looking for, search eBay with things like street fighter gauge or something. As for what comes to the mounting, well, there everyone is kind of on their own, you`re probably gonna have to fab the mount or the fixing points to use something off some other bike at least partly yourself although there probably are ready made ones too, again google and eBay are your best pals here, searching like fork mount gauge bracket and the likes gets you started.

Welcome to CBRF! You won't hear that "it's not worth it", "just sell it and buy another" bull**** from me! I'm glad to have another fighter-er here. The F series of CBR are a great platform for a fighter.

As far as gauges, look into Trailtech and Koso. You can usually toggle between KPH and MPH

But what are your general plans for the bike?

Put some pictures up. You can use Photobucket, the pictures embed to the site!

Cheers guys, and sorry about the late reply

The bike is either a 99 or 2000 but im not entirely sure as its also an import

And the basic changes at the moment as founding is an issue so just the fairing off, new twin lights, and shorter dog-bones, thats about it at the moment, oh. And a few cans of matt black. apart from that i was going to change the clocks depends if i find a cheap set

So you`re most probably looking at an F4 then, if it`s fuel injected it`s an F4i and model 2001->

It`s super easy to recognise from the frame, this is an f3 frame up till `98

And this thing is found inside an F4.

`Gluck wit the build, waiting for pics!

Good job Mattson, and it's pretty important too because one is aluminum and one is steel. Throw up pics ASAP

edit: Trailtech for clocks - pretty cheap and easy to mount/install
