to the guy above, sounds like you crossed the fuel lines?

But I have a question about moving from gravity feed to a regular oem pump.

Any oem ebay pump should do, correct? And, my wiring harness is fairly butchered, so what would be the original wire colors to connect? The same color as those on the pump I assume?

Really helpful write up though, thank you.

Smile Pump contacts burning

Last week we went for a short ride and it started getting that "running out of gas" feeling again. I was riding her bike, so I put my hand on the fuel pump and I could tell it wasn't pumping. Tapped it a couple of times with my hand and it started running again. Rode home and looked at the pump after it cooled off. The contact were burnt up again. I ordered another set from CycleGear and by the end of the week the new set was here. I have a side by side comparison of the Old and New contacts. The new ones are in and the pump is running fine again. Getting clear close-ups of the actual contact points is not easy

Old Contacts - 5,500 miles on them.

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie in the UK with a 1989 PC23 on its way to me.
I've been looking at all threads of interest before my bike arrives. I was just wondering if the problem with points arching and burning could be cured by fitting a condenser (similar to ignition coil contacts in a distibutor) this could collapse the circuit quickly after the points open. Can anyone do a visual test. ?
Just a thought.
