new member (Greenville, SC), need rear suspension geometry info
I do not actually own a CBR, I have your CBR's grandfather. Yes early 80s CB-F. Actually have three of them.
What I do have is the swingarm, shock, and linkage assembly from a ‘97 CBR900RR. My plan is to graft that on to grandpa and build an old school hot rod. The swingarm has already been machined to fit the CB-F and am now ready to start fabing up my shock and linkage mounting points.
The front end by the way is from a 95 GSXR1100 usd forks.
Here is what I am looking for:
1) It appears to me that the ’96 and ’97 had the same suspension components and therefore I would guess same geometry. Can anybody confirm this?
2) I would really like to keep the same angular relationship between components as the Honda engineers originally designed. Does anybody that has one of these bikes live within a few hours drive of the Greenville, SC area?
I actually have paper dolls of the components that I would like to hold up against your bike so I can mark them with the proper angles. I will not have to remove or lay a wrench on your bike, just cardboard cutouts and a pencil. I am will to pay a little bit if needed or I can bring you a case of your favorite malted beverage. Any help appreciate.
Signed,
your grandfather

i like your ingenuity-
im interested in an update of how it works out!
as im currently putting a triumph sprint swingarm on my 99 cbr-(hopefully)
im a bit in the dark as to how the shock will fit up as its a bit different design...
good luck
ps. you can find pretty good tech diagrams (people on this site have steered me to my manuals for download) and maybe you could trensfar geometry from these to your life size "paper doll" to dress it up?
