Default For you Nascar fans(Lots of pics)

I don't know how many of you are nascar fans but I am, not like a die hard one where I loose my shirt and drink Keystone Light every Sunday but I do watch the races. Well anyway I went to Charlotte this weekend to see the Top Gear 300 on Saturday and the Coke 600 on Sunday. Well on Friday we went to Hendrick, RoushFenway, and DEI racing then went to the nascar hall of fame. I got to admit it was pretty cool. Then Saturday went to the Top Gear 300 and then Sunday we had pit passes for the 600 and then got to sit on top of the Nascar trailer in the infield for the race and eat and drink for free. Well anyway here are some one the hundreds upon hundreds on pics that I took.

You're looking a little sheepish in that last one!

Man that sounds like a great trip! I was big into nascar right around the time Earnhardt Sr. wrecked, kinda lost interest after that, plus I got a job working Sunday afternoons so I never get to see any races. What's the story behind the pic of the wrecked car? (11th one down)

Looks like you had a good time. The wrecked cars in there are pretty sweet looking. I like how you can see the guts of it.

Yeah it was an amazing trip. Especially since a lot of it was free I just DVR the races so I can fast forward through the commercials and boring stuff but being there is totally different. As for the story on the wrecked car adrenalnjunky would be spot on. They had a tv by the car that just kept replaying the wreck so everyone could see how it got to that point. You can't really tell in the pics but you would be amazed at how much of the roll cage is grounded down. That had to be a scary wreck. I find it cool that they take car exactly how they finished, weather it's in victory lane or upside down, and put them in there shops for everyone to see.

You are right, being there is a great experience. Looks like you had an all access pass of some sort. Which would be even better. However, I must admit that after about an hour, you figure out you can't see much of the actual racing on big track (Texas Motor Speedway). My son is a car nut and he got me watching NASCAR the year after Jimmy's first Championship. Coincidentally that is when we got a bright HD projection TV with an HD feed and NASCAR started broadcasting in HD. It made all the difference because now you can see every wiggle and slide and you can see how close to losing it they are all the time, so it really heightens the excitement. The who family got into it and my wife became a Tony Stewart Fan. The need thing about the sport is once you know who everyone is you can have a great no matter who wins. It's not like seeing the home team lose every week.

For the cup race we did have pit passes that allowed us to be down there which really enhances the experience. Even if you're not a nascar fan or a car person you have to appreciate the sheer power that those cars have and the crazy amount of money these teams put into this every weekend. There is nothing like a 820hp motor revving as you are standing 10 ft from it. Where our seats were in the grandstands you could see the entire track which was nice. The trailer that we were at in the infield for the cup race you could not see the entire track but we figured how many more times will be get to be in the infield during a race and all the beer and food was there so we stayed at the trailer instead of going back to our seats.
