I've been watching these bikes since they announced them. Never been a big BMW fan, but that is certainly a wicked bike from what I've seen and read. (and it looks great, too.)
I would love to spin one, but I'm afraid it would end with signing on the dotted line...lol

Only thing that makes me wary of them is maintenance cost. Anything new to the market with ABS, DTC, and 4 different riding modes (and made by BMW) scares me just a little....

Actually that'd be the thing that'd concern me the least.... Least until the warrantee ran out. BMW isn't Toyota.

Here's something I was pondering tho after seeing the 2nd video: Knowing the guy is a stunter, would you buy his S1000rr 2 years from now at like $8k?

California Superbike School is starting to use the S1000RRs for their schools. If you can swing the tuition, I think it would be a blast to learn to rail one around a track. I've seen these things stock pwning slightly modded 'busas and every journalist seems to be in love with them. The Bimmer's definitely a good choice if you're in the market for a new liter. As for me, I've almost never seen a performance machine do well (without problems) in its first generation or first year revision. I'd rather take a CBR just because everyone and their mom's been talking about how easy they are to ride and how reliable/well-built they have been for years on years on years, now. Maybe once the Bimmer holds its ground through a couple revisions it'd be easier to consider.

That was exactly my point above. However, I don't seem to be hearing much negative about them....yet.

Short answer.... no.
