Default Success!!! CA Installed

Hey all!!!

I just completed the installation of my new Clear Alternatives brake light with integrated signals. I have to say that it was quite a challenge to figure out exactly how the rear cowl came off and on again. I have the shop manual, and although it was very helpful, it was still a challenge. Not having done it before, I was cautious and very concerned that I was going to bend the rear cowl past the breaking point. Luckily I did not and everything went without any problems.

If anyone would like a little advice on installation of the CA light, ask away. I am by no means an expert, however, the knowledge and lessons that I learned today are still fresh in my head. BTW, the CA brake light looks incredible and definitely worth the time and money invested. I might even go so far as to say that it is more noticeable than the stock turn signals!

Of course, the flash rate has increased which I think is a bonus since it attracts the eye better than the slower flash rate does. The next step of the transformation of my currently stock '03 600RR is the addition of my front signal lights from Walsen design. They are expected to arrive early next week. After that, I'm going to attempts a custom fender eliminator. Wish me luck.

Cheers,
Royce

Hey,

Here are some pics.
I have added a pic of the harness that is now in below the passenger seat in the "trunk". There was a lot of excess wire and I decided to keep it all to re-terminate later if required.

Cheers,
Royce

Here’s a tip for you... when you add the front LEDs, don't be surprised if none of your signals flash. You might have to add resistors to each side, just the front or rear to get them to flash again... I did. PM me if you run into this and I’ll help you through it.

Thanks Doncollins,

I'll keep that in mind and don't be suprised if I take you up on the offer. All help is greatly appreciated
.
The CA light came with a new relay to replace the factory stock relay. Instead of using resistors, they recommend using the new relay to slow down the flash rate. Have you or anyone else ever done this?

Also, with my Watsen Design lights order, I purschased the "in line" modules that will allow the front led signals to act as marker lights. Will this have any effect on the use of resistors or the replacment relay?

BTW, do you have the Watsen Design lights?

Cheers,
Royce
