I just went to a lecture where the guy was talking about how the recession should not be resisted, just as this guy says and that for the economy to really recover (and i mean really not just putting a bandaid on a bullet hole) we need to leave the market alone so that spending habits can change and home prices can come back out of the stratosphere

And i bet that guy is just having a ball now laughing at all those people that repeatedly laughed at his warnings, and laughing when they are crying looking at their portfolios of financial companies evaporate while his stays steady. Thanks for the link man, as a finance undergrad this is pretty much the hot topic in all my classes.

Art Laffer was on recently and he tried to play down his comments. He's a believer now.

It is going to get worse, and people need to prepare for it. Stop using credit cards and start spending wisely. Jobs are going to be lost.

I agree 100% with that and most of his theories, except his stance that gold is the best investment... (see link for explanation why)

long term gold doenst even keep pace with inflation

Well, it may not yield the highest rate of return, but it's about the SAFEST investment you can make.

true... but when over the past 25 yrs the return is 3%, which is essentially the average rate of inflation, there is no return so whats the point of taking any risk on it, even if the risk is very small (might as well just keep the money in the bank at least thats FDIC insured)
