From what people have read, the reason a lot of people low-side around those particular set of bends is that they are each off-camber, sloped, decreasing radius corners and it catches a lot of people off guard. There seems to be a crew that hangs out there a lot and I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of getting used to the way those corners are.

There are a lot of people who thought the cop was in the wrong for sitting right there because the cop should have taken into account that people might panic going around that corner and do exactly like this guy did.

 

Maybe the officer was jsut being nice and ensuring oncoming traffic would chill out, since the rider did slide into the other lane.
