The new ghost rider...

RE: The new ghost rider...
At Motorcycle.com they have the whole story on this. Apparently it was an entry into a worldwide contest to build a completely self controlled robot that could maneuver an obstacle course all on its own. It has two cameras for binocular vision and several computers to process the info. It has to go slow because the computers are just not fast enough to make the necessay calculations and course adjustments yet. It is NOT remote controlled at all. Really a quite incredible piece of engineering if you ask me. This was the only entry made out of a motorcycle. The rest were 4-wheel vehicles.

remote control bike... someone with too much money and a poor imagination on how to spend it.

as a mechanical engineer, im very impressed... but then again just about every competitor in the DARPA challenge is impressive, and i dont really see the benifit of doing it on 2 wheels instead of 4, besides it being skinnyer.
