I LOVE Canon camera's. Lookin at getting the D30 or Rebel xti.......can't decide. D30 offers a much larger lens and capture area, but the Rebel has 10.2 mp whereas the D30 has 8.2.

The D30's are about 1000-1100 for the body alone and you can get the rebel body around 600-800. The big differences between them are the 10 to 8 mp, seperate settings lcd on the d30, magnesium-alloy chassis for the d30 (lighter, stronger, tougher, feels more solid), the cmos sensor cleaning device on the XTi, 5fps on d30 compared to 3fps on XTi. That's about it.
Personaly, I went with the XTi for the extra mp capacity, cheaper price, and still has all the functional features of the d30 (can use the same lens and accessories) as the EOS platform is pretty universial amoung canon (maybe not between DSLR and 35mm SLR). If you just getting into the SLR world and you coming from regular point and shoot simple cameras, the rebel DSLR's are the best bang for buck entry level DSLR's. Just save yourself 300 bucks, get the XTi and invest in a 2nd or 3rd lens. It's all about the right lens, rather then about the body, but its more about the user than anything else.
The only annoying feature is that you have to go through the settings on the large LCD panel, which in turn eats up battery power, but it's such a nominal thing now, specially when I got the add-on battery grip accessory.
I'll post some new pics soon. I took over 400 pics today, so much time to look through them all and fine tune the good ones. Hopefully I'll have a good 20-30 more pics. Mostly flowers and bike pics.
Very nice pics!
I've got a Canon Rebel Ti SLRwith real film! Paid $450 for body, 2 lenses (up to 300mm), carry case, light filters on ebay.
I still kinda like using film though[

Someday I'll get a Rebel Digital but for now, this one works just fine.
