nice bike, if you figure out how to get that pipe back to shiny again, or if anyone else knows let me know, I have the same pipe on my F4 and love the sound but it looks like crap now, I've tried your normal aluminum polish type stuff.

You're gonna need about 5 different grits of automotive sandpaper.
First, wet-sand it with 300 grit. Get all the heavy scratches out. Using an orbital will help... tons. After that, hit it with 600. Then 1500. Then 3000. All of it is wet-sanded. After the sanding, you'll need to buff everything out with your favorite compound (they all work the same after you've done the tedious wet-sanding).
When buffing, it is important to do small sections at a time. About 3x3 inches. Then move on to the next patch. After you've covered the entire pipe, hit it all with the buffer using long strokes and small areas. Kinda like a 2" section by a 12" section. Work your way around the pipe and you're done.
If you take the pipe off the bike, make sure you have some kind of vise or something to stabilize it.
Doing this as I wrote it will get you exactly what you see in my pictures above. If it doesn't, you've done something wrong. You will love your pipe after that, too.
