i was on my 96 katana 600 and my friend borrowed one from his friend. and i have been in love ever since. i absolutely love the v twin sound and he could just crack the throttle and be gone. i had to drop 2 gears just to get around the same car and catch up to him. ha ha and they are definatley good looking.

Maineiack, I agree. I've got one. ;-)
The RC51 is a dinosaur compared to the modern liter bikes of today but I love it! I liken it to a P51 Mustang...its unique, was performance designed, & no matter how old it gets, it will always be a classic.
Compared to my CBR, the RC51 costs considerably more to operate if you use it on a daily basis. Gas mileage is 130mi per tank, & you *will* wear your tires quicker on this bike. ;-) I'm still running a 190 on the back but some go down to the 180, which makes it handle a little better & is cheaper of course.
Let's just say, insurance is a bit more as well. ;-)
Many complain of the seating position being uncomfortable for longer periods but for me, it isn't a problem. I've routinely ridden the bike on 100-150 mi twisty rides w/o issue.
Power, is well...available for any situation & is like you said, "crack the throttle & be gone." ;-)
