I can't find lap times comparing the two, but I'm sure the 600 would put up a good fight (if not beat) the older GP bike with all the advancements in suspension and handling capabilities.

I heard a comparison once that when comparing a two-stroke to four-stroke, you can say roughly double the cc. i.e. a 250cc 2stroke = roughly a 500cc 4stroke in power. I may be way off but that's how the group of dirt riders I ride with relate it. That's only power-wise though, I completely agreehandling is way better nowand would make a huge difference
