freakin' forum wont let me post ...

So I bought the MANTIS cam mount which works fine but was not intended for vertical cams l-i-k-e mine) so I had to rig it to work and I needed a mount that sits up above the wind screen since mines tinted.

Hey breezy. Got some footage with my cam. Gonna have to figure a way to stop the vibes. I have it ram mounted and I guess my bike is just too viby. Also my screen is covered in bugs so I'm gonna wash her today and retake again tomorrow.

Is the site you uploaded to good? Obvisouly it'll upload big files. I have cable modem.

Thanks for the compliment on the vid.

You can hear the bike layered underneath the music and over it in parts wh.ere its not sped up.
Nothing wrong with the Spanish dude, essay ;) problem is, when you speed it up all you'd hear of the bike is a sped up whinny noise and not really the bike.

instead of breezy you should ebonic it to "beezy" haha

If yours doesn't have a good "steady shot" feature (mine doesn't have a good one either) then you can do what I did and rig the heck out of duct tape and bungee cord type straps ... ghetto you say? yes but it works :)

I ha.ve cable modem as well and if the speed is decent you should be fine but ...
Is your footage shot in HD or is it just large file size? If the latter, you can simply reduce the file size by compressing it and usi.ng just about any video hosting size but if the former, vimeo is one of the very few that I've found that actually le.ts you keep the compression down and show it in HD (since most all computer monitors are capable of showing HD resolution) as well as one of the few that allow 16x9 wide screen format. You can still us.e vimeo for the large video sizes that are non-HD as well, but I have no experience with that so I can't tell you the advantages or disadvantages as far as that goes.

As far as how good the site is in uploading:

My experience is limited but it wasn't difficult .. but it was time consuming. It depends on how long your vid is and how much quality you want. Mine was compressed the least amount they allow (any less compression and their site would've automatically compressed it down) ... so for my 7 min vid at the highest quality compression setting they allow was around 220 MB (near 700 MB before compression) which took approx. 30 minutes to convert and 20 minutes to upload PLUS editing time. You can cut some of that time down if you compress it more.

So basically, if you want to edit and compress it at high quality a fast computer and connection is a must. If you're not too particular about it being the highest possible quality then you can get by with less but I would guesstimate a 15 min. vid would still require at least 1 hour for minimal editing, compression time, and upload time.

Looking forward to see what you got on your cam.

720 x What?
720 x 1280 is what they consider High Definition.

What's the duration of the vid? 980mb is either a very very long vid or very high quality but you said 720p so I'm assuming it's very very long. I think my cam states it will record over 1 hour at 720x1280 on a 1 GB card so yours must be over 1 hour. Remember that if you're planning to upload the whole thing to Vimeo you will need to compress it not only because the excess data would be compressed automatically anyway but also because without updating to one of their pay plans, their free plan limits you to 500 mb max upload per week.

I used iMovie 30 frames per second @ 5000 kbits data rate, but I know you don't u.se mac .. there are plenty of winblowz programs that do compression as well. One of the most commonly used edit/compression ones with winblowz is WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER. Make sure to follow the settings they recommend when saving final vid for best results. If your vid is HD here are some links to help:
http://www.vimeo.com/help/compression
http://vimeo.com/forums/topic:3671
http://vimeo.com/forums/topic:4038

If your vid is not HD, look on their main page for the basic help link. http://vimeo.com/help

I think I read on there that you can even upload a video straight from your cam if it saves it in .mov format and it'll automatically do basic compressions but I never tried that method since I needed to make edits anyway and I would think that would take much much longer to upload.

RE: First Ride Recorded in HD (Limited Time Only)

Naw its only 16minutes long (of course I want to cut it down). Thats not even the uncompressed option.

My cam can shoot

640x480
640x480HQ (uncompressed and it uses more space than 720p [&:] )
720p (ya I'm guessing 720x1280)
720pHQ (uncompressed)

I did a 10 second test with each format.

640x480 = 2.85mb
640x480HQ = 10.23mb
720p = 9.13mb
720pHQ = 17.94mb

And if you ask me if HQ makes a difference, I'd have to say no. LOL I cant see a difference. Also have a stabilizer option but it can only keep up so much. Also my Kodak saves vids in quicktime format.[&:][&:][&:] Yea, I get to convert every vid I make. Woopeee. *sarcasim*

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSVEVdTN4 Youtbe sucks ass. Copy paste the link.

Short vid. I used mp4cam2avi to convert from MOV to AVI. Works pretty good. The used movie maker to cut, but it wont save the vid at the right resolution and youtube cuts it even more.
