There has to be some kind of boosters like on a VTAL jet.

Well, in order to stay aloft there must be enough lift. Lift is produced, say across a wing by forcing air downward causing an equal and opposite force on the wing that supports the aircraft.

In general a helicopter, produces it's lift by spinning it's "wings". I guess in theory if the wind is strong enough and the helicopter is light enough, there would be enough force to keep it airborne. Plus if you look at the size of the propellers on that beast...you will see that they are massive. You can also hear that it is an especially windy day too.

You can certainly see the tips of the rotor tilting up...I would say they are doing the work. Maybe it's in a valley or something were wind can be a bit stronger...or hurricanne winds?

I'm not an aeronautics engineer or anything, I'm just theorizing on the little bit that I know. Was it even a real Helicopter and not a model?

Listen and you can hear the rotors making the noise. my guess is that some one set their videorecorder at a certian speed to capture the footage so it was in sink with the rotation of the rotors to make them look like they werent spinning. the tail rotor goes at a faster speed then the mains do thats why they are spinning in the vid.

No way in hell can a coptor fly without them mains.

you're probably right....frame rate of the camera...kind of like when you video tape a CRT. Sometimes, I just over think.

Here's whats going on:
It took off from a runway that had a gigantic conveyor belt.
The belt speed increased thus causing lift due to the increased velocity.
Also known as the Bernouli effect. The aircraft is controlled by the yaw speed brakes.
The rotors are not needed when this anomally occurs, resulting in anti-gravity.

duh...

Optical illusion. It's the way the camera captured the image. The frame-rate was matched just perfect to the rotation of the chopper blades (or the dude just got lucky and the camera just captured it like that). If you have adjustable frame-rates on your camera, you can pull off the same trick with your ceiling fans.

Thanks for typing the most probable correct answer for me.

The only other explanation I can think of off-hand would be that the copter is being towed by cables from another type of aircraft
or another copter above that is out of frame.

Edited video in either case.

But, tell you what you might do for some fun.

Post this on the nearest paranoid conspiracy site and watch the usual nuts go ape ****.
