RE: Awwww Shiieet!!!
I really don't think it's the tires fault, because if it was I would have lowsided on the pavement.. yes, better tires could help nevertheless, then again, with bweeter tires I might have been going 10-20 kph faster and the same thing would happen only worse... If If If but but but maybe maybe maybe, suppose??? lol
as I said in another thread, i don't think i'm the first person to bail in that corner, I found a red piece of plastic which was faded, which definitely never belonged to my bike!

R1000, I have Mig, Tig, and acetylene at my work, what I'm thinking of doing is drilling a hole in them and using a slide hammer when they're red hot to bend them back so they at least have close to original flow, at least enough to ride with reasonably
and on tuesday, i'm getting a Katana 750 which needs some carb work, otherwise it's fine

That should work, a few remaning dents wont kill the engine. The system is far more restrictive in the t-section which they all have in stock shape. You dont need to drill holes, just weld some nuts or washers to the dents to get grip with the tool. Then it is just to grind them off.
Great, another bike already in sight ! You can build a street-fighter of the CBR then, since it still runs OK, just scrap the fairings and apply a few simple mods, rised handlebars etc.

I'm going to look for newish fairings.. even if they aren't black and red, I wish I were gifted at fiberglass work, that would be interesting
anyone know what years the bodywork of the CBR1000's fit the hurricane? is it just 88/89? what about he 90's, I know there are some slight differances as far as the appearance of the cowl vents etc, but that's not my big concern, what I need is that they fit

Here's a link to a plastic welding post that might be of interest if you can't get decent replacement fairings... https://cbrforum.com/m_93487/tm.htm
