What I want to know is how the web site posting the movie clip knows where I live to show me the girls above who live in and around Columbus, OH. After clicking on one there are even more of them.

 

Surprise!! You got spyware on your computer!! Congrats!!! Download or buy a real spyware zapper (spyware doctor is the easiest/best) and it'll get rid of that crap. Your puter will run faster afterwards also. Adaware and Spybot are free and pretty good at what they do but in the end you get what you pay for and these 2 won't kill all the bots.

Don't worry about it 05Tribal... it's a harmless advertisement tactic... every web site you visit will see your IP address, look at my signature. It shows your IP address and your IP address is specific to one ISP (internet service provider) so once the site know this info, they can link the ads to your location.

 

My IP address isn't static. They used to target me pretty good (Atlanta) until I removed all the tracking cookies and bots. Now they show me the girls near me in New York City. Hmmmm, only 800 miles away ... guess that's "near" in the scheme of all things being relative to the sun.

 

What I meant was that your ISP has a range of IP addresses they use. Most of the ads you see with a specific town/state that you are in follow you this way. But you can have spyware/adware.
