Any of you guys do any couch-surfing on your trips? In this economy, every dollar counts. If there are savings to be had by staying w/a fellow rider, that would be great. Too, I believe it would strengthen the common bond among riders. Goodwill toward your fellow rider...is it still out there? I've offered up my couch on many occasions.

Also, I must say that on trips, generosity of folks in general, never ceases to amaze me. I've had folks offer to buy me gas, give me extra layers of clothing, etc.

What is your experience?...either as a couch-surfer or couch-provider? Stories?
