Scotland 2011 (1200 miles & no rain)
A trip to Scotland has been planned by my brother his wife & I for a few months now and on Sunday 10th July 2011 we were packed and ready to go... Me on my 93 CBR & brother on his 87 GTR 1000.
Our first stop was after 55 miles at Hartside Cafe (weardale/cumbria) for a sausage butty & a cuppa.
Then a quick stop for photo at Gretna Green. (no proposals so moved on)
After riding along the A75 past Dumfries & up the A76, around the bottom of Glasgow we crossed the Erskin Bridge and had our first camp at Loch Lomond.

Day 2 was an early start so no traffic and lovely roads all the way to Oban.
A quick photo on the bridge on the way out of Oban.
A ride up the A86 to get a photo for our mum of the house from the TV series "monarch of the glen"
Then back to the Commando Memorial statue just north of Fort William.

From there we went along the A87 to the Isle of Skye with a stop at Eilean Donan Castle (highlander film).
The Isle of Skye Bridge.
Day 3 was a ride to Applecross & back to Skye, Applecross is HIGHLY recommened its outstanding scenery & road.
The A896 & A832 were fantastic scenery on the way to Garve.
And a stop at Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness.

Our next camp was near Elgin on the A96.
This was another stock up with supplies.
Then down to Huntly Castle.
From there along the A97/A93 past Balmoral Castle (the queen didnt invite us in for tea so quick photo & carry on)
Our last camp was near Crieff.
Under the Forth Bridge then into Edinburgh for a cuppa.
With a quick stop at Carter Bar on the A68 we were back in England and a couple of hours later back home.
1200 miles and some how NO RAIN. If you ever get the chance i can highly recommend Scotland and if your passing near Durham call in i'll put the kettle on.
The bikes were averaging around 40/50 mpg as we were only doing 50/60 mph on the west coast but due to more traffic and the pace of life, the east side was a little more rushed. No problems with the bike and a VERY good week was had. Rob.
