Default Mt. Washington

Last weekend a couple buddies and I rode to the top of Mt. Washington. Good times. It was 91 degrees at the base and 54 at the top with 42 mph winds. Unbeknownest to me the wire conection to the radiator came loose which caused the fan not to come on. I over heated on the way up, you can see some anti-freeze on the ground in one of the pics. Other than that it was an trip we did 600 miles in 2 days

Good stuff mate! Hell of a temp difference. I think about half way up would have been about spot on. Good pics too.

My cousin and I made that trek in an Alpha-Romeo Spyder Convertable when I was 15 (wow, that was 33 years ago). It was in the 90's down below and in the high 40's up top with 70+ MPH constant winds! The door was near ripped off the car when I opened it before he turned the car around to face the wind...then I could barely get out!

The highest wind speed ever recorded (on Mt Washington) was 231 mph in 1934

Each year they have bike days. Usually two weeks after Memorial Day. Monday and Thursday are set aside for bikes only. You can check Mt. Washington web site for the dates. I have made the 634 mile ride 7 times. The warmest temp. since they have been recording it was 72F at the top.

The only problem with Mt Washington is I always race up to the summit. Last time only took me 21 minutes, four minutes better than my first time up

Very cool pics! I should head up there some time on the bike. It's only about 11.5hrs from here.
I remember going up in a car a good while ago, but only remember bits and pieces. I believe it was in an 82 Ford Fairmont.

I guess it's a good thing our bikes run kinda rich...lol.
It's a little bit like the Grand Canyon. I remember being up on the rim and it was like 35F with snow on the ground in early march, but down below you could see people in shorts, tank tops, and sandals......riding on donkeys and chit.
